WorkForce Carolina – Top 10 in Triad’s Fast 50

SEPTEMBER 23, 2011 – WorkForce Carolina (WFC) is proud to announce that, for the third time since 2006, it has been recognized by The Business Journal as one of the 50 fastest-growing privately-held companies in the Piedmont Triad. WFC ranked #9 in the rankings compiled for this year’s list.

“We are very excited to be recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the Triad. There are many, many wonderful companies in this region and to be chosen as one of the fastest growing is quite an honor for us,” commented Teresa Lewis, CEO & President of WFC. “We are so fortunate that, following the Great Recession, our clients and employees remained loyal to us and gave us the opportunity to grow.”

WFC provides contingent labor to industrial facilities throughout the Piedmont Triad region. As the recent recession wore on and economic uncertainty became the norm, firms that rely on labor to manufacture products or provide services found themselves in a difficult decision-making environment: they needed labor but had to be cautious about hiring full-time employees. By turning to or expanding their use of contingent labor, many firms were able to weather the recession. WFC was there to aid these firms during that time and saw tremendous growth as a result.

WorkForce Carolina received this recognition at a special ceremony on September 22 held at The Alumni Center on the campus of North Carolina A&T University. Accepting the award on behalf of WFC was Traci Hamilton, Sales & Marketing Director. “This is an amazing honor to receive. The staff at WFC is phenomenal and without their dedication we could not have achieved this award,” stated Hamilton.

The Fast 50 Awards are compiled by The Business Journal and certified by Smith Leonard Accountants & Consultant. The rankings are based on a minimum revenue amount for 2010 and percentage growth from 2008 to 2010.

Chamber honors Kay Marcaccio

The Mount Airy News

To celebrate Administrative Professionals Day, the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce held its annual luncheon which is best known for the hysterical sketches performed by the Chamber Ambassadors, but the real reason for the day is to name the Administrative Professional of the Year.  Kay Marcaccio was announced as this year’s winner.

Chamber Board Chairman Gary Lawrence, who is the publisher of The Mount Airy News, presented the award.  He announced her as the winner by the process of elimination.  He said the winner was a woman, so, all of the men sat down.  Then he said the winner put aside her career to raise two children, so those who didn’t do that needed to sit down.  When Lawrence got to the end of his list no one was standing.  Marcaccio said she sat down by accident and was too embarrassed to stand up again.

Lawrence read part of the nomination form submitted by Marcaccio’s boss, Teresa Lewis, owner and president of WorkForce Carolina.

“She takes the initiative to handle requests without having to go to the owner.  She is caring and compassionate acknowledging someone’s loss or suffering on behalf of the company and owner.  She is an excellent executive assistant who never complains when asked to help out in any department or office location, dependable, proudly represents the company at special events or community functions.  She is the first to acknowledge the success of co-workers.  She recognized the importance of being a parent and put her career on hold to raise a family, “said Lawrence.

“I love my work and I love everybody I work with.  I’m excited and overwhelmed,” said Marcaccio.

After a lunch filled with entertainment, Marcaccio said winning the award was unexpected.  She has been coming to the luncheons for the past 10 years and has admired the winners before her.

“This has been a wonderful day.  I’m very proud to work for WorkForce Carolina, “she said.

Marcaccio has been with WorkForce Carolina for 11 years.  She and her husband, John, have two children, Nic and Neina Marcaccio.

Ms. Hamilton, Director of Sales & Marketing at WorkForce Carolina, was honored with this award Thursday, February 17 in a special awards ceremony held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Greensboro, NC.

“Although this is an individual award,” Ms. Hamilton responds, “it is not at all possible without the support and efforts of my co-workers at WorkForce Carolina. I was serving as a lifeguard fifteen years ago when Teresa Lewis approached me poolside about applying with her firm. I would like to thank her for believing in me then and giving me the opportunity to put my career on a successful path. I would also like to thank my family and friends for their outstanding support but, above all, I wish to give thanks to God who receives all the glory.”

In the last year, Ms. Hamilton has overseen significant revenue growth at WorkForce Carolina and has worked with major clients to streamline back-office transactions and develop more effective customer service programs. Ms. Hamilton has been active in the United Fund of Surry for many years where she has served as Chairman for the Industrial Division and has also served on the Board of Directors of the Mount Airy High School PTO where she chaired the fundraising committee. In addition to her professional and civic excellence, Ms. Hamilton is a personal trainer and a proud mother of three.

“Traci has been with WorkForce Carolina since her graduation from college over 15 years ago,” commented Teresa Lewis, Owner and President of WorkForce Carolina. “Her positive attitude, upbeat personality and desire to achieve have contributed to our success for many years. We are very proud of this recognition of Traci’s leadership ability.”
